A new Tourer!
September 20, 2017 Grand Tour 0Grand Tour are delighted to be able to announce that there is a new member on board the project! Chris Radford has agreed to join as our bass player, and we are really pleased to have someone with such a great playing experience and an extensive history of involvement with a wide range of musical styles over the years. Chris even has firm roots in prog, having played with Tim Birrell and Jim Murdoch of Credo when he was about 16. Although he’s from “dan sarf”, Chris lived in Scotland for a lengthy period before heading back south in the mid 1980s – he played in a number of projects over the years thereafter including The Benna McCartney band (Sir Paul’s niece!), Ruby and the Revelators (a blues/soul outfit), and Bowiesque (David Bowie tribute band). These were Brighton based and were pretty high profile bands locally. Within the past couple of years, Chris and his wife took the decision to return the Scotland, and he was brought to the attention of Grand Tour by Mike Baxter of Long Earth (with whom Chris had played in a several extremely successful bands in the early 1980s). A meeting was set up with Hew Montgomery; Chris liked the music and the plans for the new album and agreed to join up almost immediately.
With Chris on board, we are now steaming ahead with the recording of the NEW Grand Tour album – the songs are all written and the recording starts at the beginning of November when Bruce Levick with be laying down the drum tracks. The album should be ready for release in Easter 2018 and we will have more news soon!
